The Tsunami Disaster - With Or Without Music, You Can Help

By: Toby L

OxfamThe music-world is uniting across all platforms in an attempt to help provide aid and relief to those families and victims involved in the Boxing Day (December 26th) natural disasters occurring in Asia.

And though it's easy to forget about troubles outside of our own homes, in this instance, it's imperative that we all group together and help. Here are a few following ways you can show your support:

Back the attempts - and hopefully purchase a ticket - made by Cardiff's Millennium Stadium in an impending relief concert, occurring within the next three weeks (TBC). U2 are rumoured to headline, alongside a full cast of local Welsh heroes and special guests. Stay tuned to the venue's website here for updates.

Bid for some signed, exclusive music memorabilia being sold by a fan in aid of the cause, with a view to raise proceeds. Click here for further information.

Ahem, for once, copy The Osbournes' example and do as they do, as highlighted here.

Plum Promotions (link here) - the company behind the Water Rats and Marquee venues in London - are switching their admirable backing of Make Trade Fair shows held at the Marquee (entitled Breakthrough) for a temporary period to instead provide support to Oxfam and its continued relief and aid attempts made in Asia. Charity-donations will be implemented at all events to those on the guest-list; Plum are also encouraging independent promoters to get in touch to assemble benefit shows in aid of the disaster over the upcoming period. So, reckon you can pack it out? Get in touch.

And at the very least, visit search-engine Google's list of sites that each display various ways in which you can contribute a much-needed donation to victims of the tsunami. Info here.

Or visit the official DEC site here for a further way to submit donations.
