Transgressive Records: Showcase #2 - This Monday 9/5/05 - Book Tix Now!

By: Toby L

DuelsThe Young Knives, Duels (image), The Pipettes and Jeremy Warmsley, plus rockfeedback and Battle DJs, form the line-up for the second Transgressive Records party at the Camden Barfly on Monday May 9th 2005.

The prior, sold-out event occurred back in January - featuring live-sets from Ladyfuzz, Mystery Jets and burningpilot, plus DJ-ing from Tom Vek - and May 9th's event is looking set to be equally rammed. Tickets cost £5:00 in advance and can be purchased online here.

Quick SP on the bands:

The Young Knives = Andy Gill of Gang Of Four-produced / The Futureheads' favourite new band / currently getting spun on Zane Lowe / Steve Lamacq via Radio One and BBC 6 Music, plus John Kennedy on Xfm, as well as MTV2 for the hilarious video. Their debut Trans EP is out on May 30th.

Duels = Fresh off the road with The Kaiser Chiefs, with whom they share the same management-team (a company that also looks after Franz Ferdinand, no less); they're a buzz Leeds band currently mustering a huge response, and their debut 'Potential Futures' (produced by Head) comes out on Transgressive in July.

The Pipettes = About to tour the UK with rockfeedback favourite The Magic Numbers, and recent session guests on BBC Radio One's Huw Stephens show. They were one of the last new bands to be spun by John Peel. They're enriching Motown, polka-dot pop at its finest; a three-track single appears in June via Transgressive.

Jeremy Warmsley = A brand-new performer, who's mates and a remix-collaborator with prior Trans release, Mystery Jets. His debut EP on Transgressive is out in the late summer. His set will be a short, solo introduction to the live events.

... Plus - DJs from rockfeedback, as well as fast-rising types, Battle, who graced rockfeedback's The Basement Club back in Jan.
