Week Commencing: 14/3/06

So we're off currently in Austin, Texas for South by SouthWest (to feast upon the live/in discussion likes of Arctic Monkeys, Morrissey, Ray Davies, Beastie Boys, Dirty Pretty Things, and heaps besides - more on that upon our return!) - but there's something you should really know about in our absence...

The Basement Club is back (Highbury Buffalo Bar, N1) - next week (Thursday 23rd March, 8pm), featuring thus far:
GOODBOOKS: The nation's most enticing, new foursome provide a rare live-set
(and some post-gig DJ-action, with a bit of luck/shame - expect a melange of Chaka Chan and Hot
Chip). Spiralling synths from the Kraftwerkian side o' town, sprightly
boyish / nubile vocals and nagging choruses which promise one of the
year's inevitable breakthrough acts. The Steve Lamacq 'favourite new band'
and Zane Lowe 'hottest new record in the world' stars release their
awaited debut 45 on Transgressive Records in April, and this low-key
basement show for them is a good place to see it all start.
... More acts / attractions to be announced imminently. Reserve tickets now (£5.00) via clicking here.
Sorry again for the no-say - we've been moving office from Highbury to... down the road, Holloway Road, to be precise. It's been hell. But we're almost in. And when we are - expect the uber-return of all returns.
