Magic Numbers Unveiled as Tonight’s Birthday Basement Headliners
By: Thomas Hannan
For our sixth anniversary it seems only fitting that we invite back to Basement Club one of the bands we were responsible for championing at a very early stage, a band who have since gone on to sell millions of records and, via their charming melodies and winning smiles, worked their way in to the hearts, it seems, of the entire warm blooded population of the planet earth. Rockfeedback grins as it says 'we told you so!'
Past Basement Club sets from the Magic Numbers have become the stuff of teary eyed legend, and tonight looks set to be another one. Tickets, of course, have already sold out, but this is a plea to those with their names on the reserve list (who will have been notified by now) to arrive early and in good spirits - demand for this one has been huge. Doors will open at 8pm with tickets as previously stated costing £14.00, and we'll be doing our darndest to get y'all a slice of the action.
The rest of the line up features the inimitable avant-garde lounge stylings of Mr Hudson & The Library and Horsebox, along with the regular host of DJ talent / chancers (myself being the latter - email me requests below, I'll play them only if they are Prince). As with last month, we'll be setting up a stall for our sister label Transgressive Records also, so visit the cashpoint beforehand to be able to purchase records from the likes of burningpilot, The Rumble Strips, GoodBooks, The Noisettes, Polytechnic, Jeremy Warmsley and our beloved Regina Spektor direct from the teet.
Apologies for keeping it a secret for so long, but we had our reasons. Begrudging congratulations also to those who'd already guessed it - but get in to the spirit of things, won't you? It's our birthday! Follow the lead of 'Numbers singer Romeo, pictured here when he found out about the possibility of playing the Basement Club, who sent us this text this morning:
Seriously can't wait dude. I love your nights. Love ya X
We can't wait either, Ro!
