Absentee Join Thomas Truax, Bobby Cook & Mechanical Bride for 25/1 Basement
By: Thomas Hannan
One of the best discoveries we ever made down in our Basement was ABSENTEE, and it's for this reason we're delighted to announce these current Bandwatch stars as the act who complete our line up for the Basement Club this coming Thursday, January 25th, at the customary venue of Islington's Buffalo Bar. Dreamy alt-country interspersed with infectious riffs, swoon-worthy melodies and wholly appropriate Grease cover versions, their last appearance at one of our nights went down in legend, and rightly so.

Phew - so that's those two joining a stellar line up that already features this lot:
THOMAS TRUAX: A US-originating weirdo par-excellence who builds his own instruments, inclusive of a bafflingly complex clockwork drum machine, and is both sinister, hilarious and heartbreaking live, almost Waits-ian in his brilliance. With him you'll get...
BOBBY COOK: The record labels' hot choice at the moment, and a solo boy with some beautiful tunes to match his fine attire and sweet voice. Also present and performing will be...
MECHANICAL BRIDE, a lady who sold out her debut EP on our affiliated Transgressive Records, which was nothing of a shock - she's siren like in her lilting, gorgeous and haunting songs, as well as being one of the nicest and most enigmatic people you'll ever meet.
