Basement Club Line-Up: 22/2/07
By: Thomas Hannan
Now that we've finally recovered from the hangovers brought on by the last one, it's time to get excited about the next Basement Club, occurring at the usual place (The Buffalo Bar, Highbury Corner, Islington - right next door to Highbury and Islington tube station, Zone 2), between the usual times (8pm - 2am), you can expect to see this unusually brilliant bunch:
JAKOBINARINA: Kindly re-routing their flights back to their native Iceland for one last gig on their current UK tour, this intimate showing from The Smiths-cum-Fugazi (yes, really) assault-course in pop songwriting prove just why they're deserving of all the recent hyperbole and their inked deal with Rough Trade.

TO MY BOY: Freshly signed to XL - through their new Abeano Records offshoot - this incredible boy-boy, electro-dance-punk-with-tunes duo have just finished their debut LP already, and play a low-key club appearance to celebrate... Muchly reckoned.

MY SAD CAPTAINS: One of the tips for 2007 from 'The Fly' and a beauteous discovery, this is somewhere between the vulnerability and fragility of Sparklehorse, but with a Pavement cheekiness. Boy-girl harmonies to die for, and a band we wouldn't be surprised hearing a lot more of later this annum.
All that, and more to be announced - including the usual special guest DJs.
Tickets cost £5.00 and must be reserved HERE (or click on the above banner) to confirm entry.
New to the Basement, and want to see how the last one went down? Well, it didn't so much go down as it did go off - check the report HERE.
