Basement Club #39: Metronomy heads Tantalising Line-Up for 28/6

We're mulling over the idea that all music made before tomorrow is rubbish. Well, not rubbish perhaps, but it certainly sounds dated. As such, we bring you the second instalment of the live presence of our Future Sounds column via our monthly, legendary Basement Club offshoot, where new friends will be met, new sounds heard and new bands will become all time favourites. The line up is as follows:
METRONOMY: Daring, inescapably danceable, highly curious and yet shamelessly melodic electronica - nah, sod it, we'll say it... DANCE MUSIC - from Joseph Mount and his band. Think Aphex Twin covering the Ramones and you're nowhere near what our headliners Metronomy sound like, but the thought should make you giggle rapturously inside, which is what this boy should make you do also. THE TEENAGERS: Their debut single was out just last month on Merok records, and already the music made by Michael, Dorian and Quentin, three persons from Paris via London obsessed with all things fabulously beautiful (they've got a song called 'Scarlet Johansson'), is the stuff of underground, indie legend. Shake your frame whilst thinking words along the lines of 'did they just say what I think they said'? They probably did. THEIRSPACE.
POST WAR YEARS: Expect everything from west coast sixties pop played on synths and samplers to new wave rock and roll guitar bashing from this Warwickshire based four piece, renowned for inspired live sets that belie their appearance as affable, tidy looking fellows. THEIRSPACE.

As ever, the event takes place at our spiritual home of Islington's Buffalo Bar, Highbury Corner, N1 - underneath the Famous Cock pub and right next door Highbury and Islington underground station, Zone 2. Once more, it'll run from 8pm - 2am, every minute more orgasmic than the last.
