Breaking News: Ian Mackaye Continues Living
By: Thomas Hannan
Note: don't believe everything you read on Wikipedia or MySpace. Rockfeedback though, we're pretty trustworthy. So believe us when we say that reports of Ian Mackaye, frontman of legendary bands such as Fugazi, Minor Threat and The Evens, as well as founder of Dischord Records, being dead, are not true.
The Baltimore Sun was apparently informed of Mackaye's demise and ran a piece on it yesterday evening after rumours had been initiated on online encyclopaedia Wikipedia and social networking website MySpace. Said reports have since been revoked, with Mackaye's Wikipedia page being disabled for the time being so as not to allow further scandal, after someone had the good sense to actually ring Ian to find out if the worst was indeed true. His reply?
"I am still alive."
So, that's good news, even though it's not really news. But at least we get to celebrate the goodness in Ian Mackaye without him even having to cease living. Try putting on 'The Argument'. It's bloody amazing!
Paul McCartney however is dead, and has been since a car crash in 1966. More on that HERE.
