We've been itching to bring you another one of our legendary Basement Club nights for a few months now, and luckily it seems we only have to scratch ourselves for another couple of days before our desires become a reality. Whilst others are busy putting together lists detailing which new bands will make the best music in 2008, we're putting our money where our mouth is and putting our list on a stage, in the flesh, to play you the music in question. CAT THE DOG - Highly touted, loud noisy rockers recently signed to Virgin, who've just done that most official 'rock band' of things - and made a debut album in LA with a big shot producer. Acerbic and thrillingly cacophonous live, this is their first gig of the year, and will be enchanting in a small environment such as the Buffalo Bar. www.myspace.com/catthedog
AGASKODO TELIVEREK - Hungarian / Japanese four piece making strange but wonderful noise-shlock-pop recently seen on bills with both Lightning Bolt and Siouxsie Sioux. It's intricate, very clever, but also quite shape-throwing in equal measure. Very cool, and still largely undiscovered, this is a name to watch in 2008, no question. www.myspace.com/agaskodoteliverek
A CLASSIC EDUCATION - Regular Basement Club performer, attendee and Transgressive Records extraordinaire Jeremy Warmsley discovered this fine new Italian outfit, and was so enthralled, recently went over to the pop-some's natural habitat in order to produce their debut single.
