Weezer confirm ‘red’ return

By: Chris Helsen

Weezer - The Red AlbumFollowing the theme of "if it ain't broke, do it every other album", Weezer have announced details of forthcoming 6th album, Weezer.

In the same vein as 1994's Weezer ('The Blue Album') and 2001's Weezer ('The Green Album'), the third self-titled album to be released by the band takes red as it's hue of choice. The artwork on the Rick Rubin and Jacknife Lee produced record also features the familiar group line up, this time looking quite comically mean and moody.

Lead single 'Pork and Beans' takes a typically tongue in cheek swipe at image, in particular not caring about it, which may go some of the way to explaining Rivers Cuomo's moustache and ten gallon hat combo that gives the album cover something of a Village People air. Still, comparing it with pasty youngsters on the cover of 'The Blue Album', the past 14 years have been pretty kind to Weezer.

'Pork and Beans' is out on 23rd June, with Weezer following a week later.
