Bella Union announce the signing of Peter Broderick

By: Dan Monsell

Whilst for some the summer's all about football players putting ink to paper and signing to pastures fresh and new, record labels are still doing that transfers thing too. London luminaries Bella Union - who've recently scored a huge hit with Fleet Foxes - have announced the addition to their musical family of Copenhagen-based musician and composer Peter Broderick.

Peter has already played and toured with numerous groups in his hometown of Portland, and has established himself as a regular session musician for many recording studios, adding violin, banjo, musical saw, mandolin etc to artists such as M. Ward, Zooey Deschanel, Dolorean, and many more. However his life became turned upside down in 2007 as the Danish ensemble Efterklang invited Broderick to move to Copenhagen and join their live band. Since then Peter has also released a mini-album of his solo piano music and readied Home for release on Bella Union on October 20th. His own music is full of piano-led lo-fi instrumental exploration for fans of Low and of course Efterklang.

Broderick is due to tour the UK in September with Wildbirds and Peacedrums. Interestingly enough, the tour features a date at the deaf and dumb institute in Manchester. Most bizarre...

Here are those UK dates:

8 Sep Deaf & Dumb Institute Manchester

9 Sep Pavilion Belfast

10 Sep Crawdaddy Dublin

11 Sep Brudenells Social Club Leeds

12 Sep Rescue Rooms Nottingham

13 Sep TBC, Bristol

15 Sep Hoxton Bar & Kitchen London

16 Sep The Albert Brighton
