These New Puritans now joined by Situationists & Mothlite for Club Rockfeedback on Fri (10 Oct) @ The Monarch, Camden

By: Thomas Hannan

We've barely recovered from Club Rockfeedback #7, and it's already time to announce the eighth instalment in what every publication from The Guardian to London Lite are lauding as one of the finest alternative club nights in the capital (just check Time Out this week - they confirm it!). And the next one - on Friday the 10th of October - well, this one's a right corker, too.

These New Puritans

THESE NEW PURITANS: This Southend-based four piece have had one hell of a grand time of it since releasing their impeccable debut LP Beat Pyramid on Domino Records earlier this year. "Music that keeps you on your toes, rips up the rule book and doesn't care what you think...", we said of that fine album, but to our delight, as we discovered at their winning SXSW performance, their charm is far from limited to the recorded realm. Equal parts cryptic, caustic and one of the most punishing live acts in Britain at the moment, it should be both a celebratory and revelatory affair as the band return to an intimate setting for this special one off show. http://www.myspace.com/thesenewpuritans

Situationists

SITUATIONISTS: So, sadly, John and Jehn have had to cancel on us after they got their whereabouts and times mixed up. But what the hey - we've this lot! Currently releasing their wares on the much-beloved-by-Rockfeedback Tough Love Records imprint (who recently brought you the likes of William and HEALTH - they're nothing if not diverse), Situationists are a band from Sheffield who author fine pop songs that combine the distinctive way with a tune that only quintessentially English fellows like Blur and The Futureheads can claim as their own with the complex guitar work and soaring, anthemic nature of over-the-pond types Les Savy Fav or Rival Schools. Expect harmonies a plenty, more hooks than a pirates convention and songs you'll find it difficult to shift out'a that puny brain of yours. http://www.myspace.com/situationists

Mothlite

MOTHLITE: Signed to the legendary Southern Records, Mothlite put post rock back on the right track by playing it as it should be played - with unlimited imagination and an desire to instil both shudder inducing fear and an otherworldly serenity. Named after and heavily influenced by the Stan Brakhage film of the same name, this has got cult favourite written all over it. http://www.myspace.com/mothlite

Doors open at 8pm, with tunes being spun 'til 2am. DJing on the night comes courtesy of the Rockfeedback regulars and The Siegfried Sassoon Sound System (TSSSS).

Tickets are priced at £10.00 in advance and are available HERE - snapping them up soon is a very sensible course of action.
