Ed Harcourt, Jeremy Warmsley, Munch Munch & 3 Trapped Tigers for last ever(!) Basement Club @ The Buffalo Bar - 23/10/08

By: Dan Monsell, Thomas Hannan

So some people take a sixth year anniversary of a club night to indicate that their on to something really special, and maybe they can even start to sit back and roll on into a happy old age. Not us - instead, we've decided to have just one more hootenanny and call time on this baby. Have no fear though, being folks who can't help moving onwards and upwards (and these some very exciting moments at rockfeedback towers we'll tell you), in time, something marvellously exciting shall return to fill the enormous void left by this passing.

But for now, RIP the basement club, and here's to its 6 years of ridiculous amazingness. So let's have one last party with a stupidly fantastic line-up to see us out in a style so stupendous, that they shall speak of it for years to come...

Get your chops around this cracker of a farewell bill:

Ed Harcourt

ED HARCOURT

The headliner for the very first basement club, Ed returns to bring things to a close in a wonderfully cyclical fashion. This distinguished singer-songwriter from Sussex has not only released a string of marvellous and critically solo material, he's also collaborated with a a wide variation of other artists - everyone from Jazz players from France to Patti Smith and Marriane Faithfall. Expect special guests and even an upright piano in the Buffalo!

Jeremy Warmsley

JEREMY WARMSLEY

A shining beacon of individual talent, J-Wo has just released his exquisite second album, and has once more proved himself to be one of the finest young troubadours to grace these fair British shores. Now currently touring the country as a three piece, Jeremy usually headlines venues thrice this size (at the least). You know the score: this'll be an amazingly intimate opportunity to see one of the greatest new song-writers around. And he's not even headlining. Crikey.

Munch Munch

MUNCH MUNCH

We've been meaning to have these crazy cats down to a basement club for an age, so it's fitting that we finally get them in before there simply ain't no chances left. These Bristolian experimental popsters all run around on stage swapping instruments, including 2 drumkits, 2 keyboards and a glockenspiel. We were once told by a wise man once told us that there's a fine line between mayhem and excellence. These casio munching youngsters seem to know exactly how to straddle that line best...

Three Trapped Tigers

THREE TRAPPED TIGERS

A firm Rockfeedback favourite, TTT complete the "2 experimental math-pop/2 singer songwriter bill" that is this Basement club shindig. Tom Rogerson and co. dwell in the realm of complex jazz rhythm and electronic experimentalism of a calibre we've rarely witnessed before. Their debut was recorded with Gordon Raphael, who co-launched the basement club - hence the circularity of this final basement club outing goes down to even the finest of details. One things for sure - can't say we don't work hard on this stuff...
