Column: rockfeedback - The New Design, Jan 2002

The Previous DesignSee this image to the right of the screen? Well, for the newcomers amongst you, this is a small image of the old rockfeedback; it may have been modest, but it served its purpose tremendously, allowing us to obtain some top interviews over the last year with music and industry personalities alike. It also helped to gain us a steady thousands of hits day-in day-out, and we hope to expand on this from now on.

Something you'll see more of on the site is free music to peruse - whether it be in the form of mp3s, or videos. In fact, such is our emphasis and focus on this aspect of the site, we've created a new section dedicated to the matter, entitled stream. In here, you'll find everything from rare remixes, live performances, current singles to classic tracks and music from unsigned acts we think have what it takes to further themselves in a considerable way.

We've also decided to create more of an output within our production of reviews and articles, which shall be done with the assistance of a small, selective team of international writers. In addition, you can expect bigger name interviews, more acts to be added to Bandwatch, a huge improvement made on the gig guide - which is now worldwide, acting as one of the few comprehensive listings-guides on the web - and also enjoy browsing through the portal, which could soon turn out to be the quintessential music-links compendium online. Plus, features such as Band of the Week, the revamped community, xclusiv Shop and countless other features will ensure your navigation-experience with rockfeedback to be - fingers crossed - far from mediocre.

However, it's not all change; the personal editorials on the news-page shall remain, as will successful bolt-on's, such as the Hit Parade and the loveable Outro, complete with full updated contact-details and a bolstered credits section. Indeed, we've even brought back the concept of a Flash intro - yet, this time, the imagery and theme is far more intriguing and pleasurable to view. And, lest we forget, you can still continue to send us your demos, alongside any artwork, and can contribute your written word to the site via taking a look @ Views.

So, there you go: that's your guide 'round the new site in a whirlwind movement. Still, though, this is only half of it; for the rest of rockfeedback, you have a go.

We may be bigger, better and prettier, but our principles remain firm in place: constructive, open-minded and fair critique, revealing and in-depth interviews, plus the most enthusiastic delivery of music-information on the web. We hope, at least.
