Why is this worthy of my time and money?: Forced to cancel her previously scheduled appearance within the Barbican's oddly designed but acoustically perfect walls due to illness, next Wednesday sees Chan Marshall's return to UK shores in promotion of arguably her most confident record yet. Live, Cat Power divides opinion like no other - her audience are divided between those who find her uncomfortable, shy nature and near-shambolic style of performance (whereby songs often drift off into elongated pieces of guitar tuning) either wholly irritating or possibly even staged, and those who regard it as one of the most raw, humbling and honest musical experiences available. Who knows, however - with the brash, brazen sounds of recent LP 'The Greatest' revealing a more self-assured CP to the world, maybe the live set will follow suit. Given that an on form Cat Power is a rewarding musical experience like no other, we beseech you to find out whether that prediction is an accurate one.
