Why is this worthy of my time and money?: Because, pal, the last few times Eels have visited these shores, it's been with a full string section, in a strictly seated-only environment. Here's a chance to witness them as we at least think they should be gazed at - whilst dancing like a flipping loon to a rock and roll band. The 2006 'Eels - Live and In Person! No Strings Attached!' tour visits London's Astoria twice this coming week (the first date being on Friday) to unleash highlights from their recent 'Blinking Lights & Other Revelations' double LP, merely months after they tried the same thing with all those soppy violins. But as Mark 'E' Everett himself explains to us - "'Blinking Lights...' is a big album (33 tracks to be exact) and it deserves at least two world tours in its honor."" Can't argue. Here's hoping though that they dip at least a little in to their vastly underrated back catalogue, taking an especially long detour towards 'Electro Shock Blues' - one of the finest American indie-rock records ever, if you ask us.
