So, where have I been? Graduating. And moving house. And it's been a bitch - without internet access, not being able to freely watch telly in daylight hours because I haven't figured out how to get a license yet and my parrot trying to attack my new flatmate. And I had to wear a stoopid hat. Thank gawd I've got my lovely new Jacuzzi to relax in. Yeah. You heard it.
Anyhow, apart from it being really close to the lovely office that currently houses my half-awake carcass, that's all by the by. I just thought I'd drop in and quickly let you know of a few things I deem exciting -
1) The Rapture. Now, is it just me, or was 'Get Myself Into It' a steaming pile of cack upon first listen? And is it just me, or is it now possibly the best thing they've done since 'Out of the Races and on to the Tracks'? Is it just me, or does the whole of the upcoming LP 'Pieces of the People We Love' follow that same pattern? Is it just me?
2) Five star ratings. Maybe I'm just being exposed to more excellent stuff this year, but already I've deemed records by Two Gallants, Scott Walker, Liars and TV On The Radio to be worthy of that coveted accolade. And sometimes, upon reading back, I can think I've been a little over the top. But months down the line, I still think these records are utterly superb. Buy them.
3) V Festival. Since when did it get brilliant? Since when do I get to see three of the best sets in my life - Radiohead, Beck and Morrissey - at a festival I'd previously regarded as being more like a créche than a gig? The photo, by the way, is of me pointing out to a mate which one of the Young Knives House of Lords is, at V. My hand might have been a bit wobbly by that point however.
4) Larrikin Love - 'The Freedom Spark'. Superb. I no longer miss the Libertines.

6) Beck. Sheesh, I'm pretty excited about 'The Information'. From what I gather, it could be what 'Guero' was aiming for, but fell just that little bit short of. Live, at the minute, he's totally on form.
