The Fall - The Galtymore, Cricklewood

By: Thomas Hannan

The FallVenue: The Galtymore, Cricklewood

Date & Time: 15/09/2006, 7.30pm

Tickets: £15.00 face value, available here.

Why is this worthy of my time and money?: Because, let's face it, if you're willing to go to Cricklewood to see The Fall, you already really like The Fall. And if you don't, you should.

However, many people aren't of this mindset. Any of you remember the largely flat reaction to their great Carling Weekend set a few weeks back? To be fair, that wasn't really their setting. This is.

Not all great artists do this. Don't get me wrong, I've got all the time in the world for Bowie and The Rolling Stones and folk like that, but their best days are well and truly behind them. You get people like Tom Waits, Scott Walker and The Fall however, who just seem to keep getting better. 'Country On The Click' and 'Fall Heads Roll' were superb. It makes no sense. Maybe it's the constantly changing line up that keeps it fresh - you'll only recognise Mark E Smith's wife on keyboards from the previous tour - but as Mark himself was once quoted as saying, "if it's me and your gran on bongos, it's The Fall". He's right too, somehow. Go.

By the way, they also play the same venue the night before, if Thursdays are more your thing.
