Why is this worthy of my time and money?: Because, years on, it's clear that Mogwai
(seen here cracking a joke, as usual) still have ambition, or at least just think
a lot of themselves. Why else would they
choose to tread the boards at London's
uber-plush Royal Albert Hall, a few days before this Manchester
show, rather than doing the usual few nights at the Astoria? A band whose sound seems to get more
cinematic with every record can only truly be appreciated live (where you'll
find out that they're f**king loud), and fear not, a northern university venue
will be just as appropriate for their craft, if not more so, than the decidedly
garish Albert Hall.
