Dinosaur Jr - London Mean Fiddler

By: Thomas Hannan

Dinosaur Jr

Venue: London Mean Fiddler

Date & Time: 7/12/2006, 7.00pm

Tickets: £16.50 face value, available here.

Why is this worthy of my time and money?: Well, partially because only in their live setting can you really rejoice with the correct glee the fact that Dinosaur Jr buried the hatchet and decided that them standing on the same stage as each other again was something that the world needed to see. Other than that, J Mascis' wiry white hair blowing across his face whilst he wrangles out incredible solo after incredible solo as Lou Barlow pummels away at the most distorted of bass sounds, Murph keeping it all together at the back, slays the work of every guitar band since they first called it a day. They play All Tomorrow's Parties a few days after, and whilst we're sure that will be special, we can't help but feeling that in such a tiny venue as the Mean Fiddler it'll be something else.
