Why is this worthy of my time and money?: In the middle of these dark, wet times, you can be forgiven for thinking there's not a lot to look forward to. But there is - 2007! And you might as well wrap up this year by introducing yourself to someone who might well highly enhance the next one you'll live in. Fionn Regan is that person. This Irish fella writes abrasive folk music one could compare to the likes of Kid Dakota or Two Gallants, and wowed the tiny but eventually enthralled crowd who turned up early enough to see him support Low in London previously this year. This show at the Union Chapel, a venue show blissfully spiritual nobody ever, ever sounds bad in it, will doubtless be better attended, but such is his craft and the nature of the event, it'll retain a necessary intimacy. Our guess? If you're at this, you'll doubtless spend next year settling in to his debut album, and things will look a little brighter - not only because the seasons are turning.
