Why is this worthy of my time and money?: Like that Beirut album last year did you? Well, so did we - very much. But ukuleles should be just the start of the expansion of your musical palette (it's ok, we all started with guitars...), and A Hawk and a Hacksaw, who number Jeremy Barnes and Heather Trost (both of whom appeared on Beirut's 'Gulag Orkestar' - see where we're going with this?) are the best place to go next. Frankly stunning compositions devoid of conventional structure or melody, yet full of accordions, violins and a whole host of other unconventional sonic tools, this will be an education.
