Frank Black
By: Thomas Hannan

Touring this week:
15/7/07 - London Shepherd's Bush Empire
Tickets: £20.00 face value, available HERE.
Why is this worthy of my time and money?: It's time to celebrate Frank Black for Frank Black's sake, rather than as the head of one of the most influential and important rock and roll bands of all time (Pixies, duh...). Fourteen solo albums after first disbanding that group, he's releasing a retrospective chronicling the first ten years of life without Kim, Dave and Joey ('Frank Black 93-03'), and it's a timely reminder that in amongst a little bit of all too safe alt-country, there's been some fantastic rock and roll authored by the man who reversed his name from Black Francis. This one off show should see his band delve in to it, hopefully taking a lengthy stop off at the 'Teenager of the Year' section of his career - that being one of the top three records he's ever been involved in. Seriously.
