Why is this worthy of my time and money?: Sure, seeing three piece minimalist rock trios or dub step luminaries who refuse to even take their coats off just standing there on stage looking moody is all well and good, but there's something about seeing a multi-membered, multi-instrumental band, each one of the gajillion of them on stage all bashing away at the same euphoric note, that can't really be beaten by any other kind of live music. The New Pornographers, lead by AC Newman and including Dan Bejar of the incredible Destroyer, make the kind of north American indie music that people have semi religious experiences to when they witness it live - their new album 'Challengers' is full of the stuff. If you enjoy witnessing them play it half as much as they enjoy authoring the sound, you'll be a gleeful convert.
