Rockfeedback is 8!

By: Thomas Hannan

Eight years ago to this very day, a fifteen year old lad named Toby sat clad in nothing but his boxer shorts in a bedroom in deepest, dullest High Wycombe, and unleashed Rockfeedback.com on the world. One of the first independent online music magazines in the UK, it was from the start armed with a young team of scarily passionate and talented journalists, a uniquely positive and encouraging take on rock and roll, and lofty promises of being 'a new view on music'.

And we like to think it maintains those qualities to this day. Since September of the year 2000, as readers will have noticed, Rockfeedback.com has strived to maintain that fresh insight and positive attitude in the face of an industry that increasingly knows less and less about what to do with itself, and as such has become one of the most respected and well loved sources of musical insight on the internet. As the major labels crumble whilst the average punter ponders new ways of accessing the work of his favourite artists, one thing remains, and that's our deep and sincere love of this thing we call music that we keep banging on about.

Over the years, that 'banging on' has taken on numerous different forms. From our initial online presence Rockfeedback has expanded beyond our wildest dreams - first in to the live sector, where we've been privileged to host our favourite artists at some of the most respected and downright enjoyable club nights in London under the Basement Club and Club Rockfeedback banners. Just this year, we've seen the likes of Black Kids, Four Tet, Metronomy, Foals, Eugene McGuinness, Die! Die! Die!, Fryars, Beach House, Wild Beasts, Pivot, Micachu and Pete & The Pirates amongst others grace Rockfeedback stages with fantastic performances. What's more, we've just announced our next one, featuring These New Puritans, John & Jehn and Mothlite - full details of that, including where to buy tickets, can be found HERE.

Hopefully Rockfeedback TV won't have escaped your attention either - our acclaimed Channel 4 and MTV2 series currently has many a Rockfeedbacker beavering away at its third series, with the likes of the Field Day, Underage and Melt! festivals already covered and being primed for broadcast as we speak. Expect folk such as Dizzee Rascal, Les Savy Fav, Neon Neon, Editors, Adam Green and thousands of semi naked Germans going mental on a beach at 7 in the morning to feature on a TV near you in the coming months, alongside the odd surprise here and there.

HUGE THANKS to all who have helped Rockfeedback over the past eight years in either a friendly or a professional capacity - we couldn't have done it without you, and your patience and loyalty will be rewarded with some pretty exciting developments in the coming months. Expect everything to be bigger, better and brighter with an alarming urgency. Happy birthday to us!
