I don't blog. I'm too old for it. But I have been driven to this a) to make Alex look less lonely and b) because if anything has ruined my Christmas more than forced hilarity, over consumption, Gordon Brown, every marriage I'm aware of breaking down and the continuing existence of Louis Walsh, it's the fact that I omitted putting Ladyhawke into our best albums of 2008 list.
It's bloody great: sweeping synth chorus', elegiac verses and life-affirming hairbrush moment lyrics, that is frankly considerably more exciting than Elbow (Ok, shoot me now), and falls between the two pleasure spots of realising you weren't charged for the huge Toblerone (tm) in Duty Free and suddenly discovering its Friday as opposed to Thursday. Ladyhawke simply put my faith my back in music, reminding me of those first times. There, I've said it. Now to our saviour, Gordon Brown....
