Why is this worthy of my time and money?: Passion Pit are a bubbling soup of exciting electro coordinated by singer songwriter Michael Angelakos, hailing from Massachusetts. The band's debut release Chunk of Change was originally composed as a Valentine's Day gift. After doing the rounds at Angelakos' College, Passion Pit stumbled on an underground fame of sorts - propelled by lead single 'Sleepyhead', the outfit from Boston have managed to start causing a stir both sides of the pond. The BBC have cited them as one of fifteen bands to look out for this year as part of their Sound of 2009 competition, the same competition that's featured the likes of Klaxons and Foals in the past. Appearing as a 5 piece on stage, the band bring together an eclectic selection of instruments, utilising a series of effects to achieve a unique sound. At present the band are in the process of re-releasing their EP through Frenchkiss Records; touring a selection of venues across the UK, listed above. Key shows are already starting to sell out as the band snowball with a flurry of high profile press and radio appearances.
