Why is this worthy of my time and money?: What a thrill it is to follow an artist from promising early beginnings to a stage where she's beginning to deliver on all of those lofty promises. Anyone who heard, or was lucky enough to see, Natasha Khan in her initial days masquerading (sometimes quite literally) as Bat For Lashes will have been struck by a palpable sense of star quality possessed by the young girl. Then, it all went a bit mental - Mercury Music Prize nominations, getting called the next Kate Bush, all kinds of pressures someone of such a tender age should not have to deal with. Yet rather than collapse under the weight of it all, Bat For Lashes' second album Two Suns is the sound of someone who's cleverly blocked out all extraneous voices and delved even further in to her own magical world, searching for even more fantastical trinkets and potions, returning to the surface with an album that is an even finer collection of them than her first. These shows represent a chance to hear a bit of the best of the old, and the most thrilling of the new - they should be arrived at with an open mind, and departed from with beaming smiles.
