So we’re running a one-off Japanese-themed night at London’s Lexington, complete with DJs, including the Rockfeedback boys and King of the Scratch Monkeys themselves and Tiger from This Is Music who will no doubt be playing ace Tokyo disco tunes; sushi-tastic snacks, and the following bands from the Land of the Rising Sun…

[ANCHORSONG]

ANCHORSONG - Haunting keyboard driven techno and wonky electronica, the one-man Japanese maestro appears here live with added drummer and gives as much to the cerebral setting as to the dancing shoe. Championed by the likes of Huw Stephens and many more, Anchorsong's Four Tet meets a new school Cornelius type of sound experimentation has turned many a head and seems destined for great things.  www.myspace.com/anchorsong

[BO NINGEN]

BO NINGEN - Mad as they come, we present some proper crazy Japanese rock in these latest Stolen Recordings signings now based in the UK.  Bo Ningen are everything you want from a proper new wave Japanese rock band. Embracing the Pysch tendencies of Acid Mothers Temple and the mental punk of the likes of Polysics, Bo Ningen have quite rightly caused a stir in recent times.  www.myspace.com/boningen

[A MONTH OF SUNDAYS]

A MONTH OF SUNDAYS - Recently risen from the ashes of Hanjiro, a Japanese Rock stalwart, A Month of Sundays flit quickly between psychedelic bursts, indie-pop majestics and added charm and melodic beauty. It all calls to mind the likes of Deerhoof, Flaming Lips or a more immediate Deerhunter. www.myspace.com/helloamonthofsundays

[NO CARS]

NO CARS – A quirky, cute Tokyo Disneyland all girl three piece now based in London town. Think the 1,2,3,4’s or other fun-filled guitar femme garage-poppers from the East.  If there ever was a barn dance in Japan their song ‘Where is David Bowie?’ would be perfect to jig along to- just listen to it on their MySpace and you’ll know what we mean.

That all takes place on Thursday the 10th of September 2009, at The Lexington, 96-98 Pentonville Road, London, N1 9JB.  £6.00 tickets are available from: http://www.wegottickets.com/rockfeedback, http://www.wegottickets.com/event/54269, or by calling WeGotTickets on 02078375371. Doors open at 8pm, and the nearest tube stations, Angel and King’s Cross, are a couple of minutes’ walk away so no excuses!
