SURFER BLOOD

A four-piece band from Palm Beach, Florida. A city not known for its place in rock history, in this instance it’s delivered a new band as exciting and fresh you’re likely to hear this year, or maybe even the next. Following a great deal of justified attention on both side of the pond, this show sees the group’s UK debut. Encompassing beach bum sound of 60s SoCal, albeit with a mid-90’s pop edge; these fellows make hard-edged, joyous, swollen waves of hook-filled indie rock that calls to mind the likes of The Shins, The Pixies and their good pals The Drums.

GOLDHAWKS

Named after the West London street on which they were born and raised, Goldhawks offer a uniquely British flavour on good old Americana – this is big open-hearted indie-rock that falls the right side of early U2 (yes there is a very small space on a good side, believe it or not). There’s also a sharp pleasing coarseness in the melody, similar to new rock luminaries such as Cymbals Eat Guitars and other Pavement-influenced indie rock.

FICTION

Fiction are a young quartet with the intricacies of early Foals, mixed in with a dose of Adam And The Ants, Orange Juice and noughties (yes I did just refer to a decade’s sound already) electronica. Exciting early days for this band and a great symbol of how to keep it interesting for a new bunch of men brandishing guitars, drums, electronics and more in this big bad world today. Watch out for a single due out on Offset records imminently.

DJ talents on the night come in the shaope of some our favourite lo-fi rock and roll beat combo LOVVERS (also boasting rockfeedback contributor Steve Rose), and South East London club kid superstars OFF MODERN DJS

This will be the first show Rockfeedback has hosted at the Hoxton Bar and Kitchen on Hoxton Square in East London. Old Street is your nearest tube. This is an earlier show than you might be used to – the first band will take to the stage at 8pm sharp. Tickets are a paltry £6.50, and can be bought here.
