MIIKE SNOW - Man? DJ? Robot? Miike Snow is actually a band comprised of Swedish duo Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg, childhood friends who spent time playing in bands and working on various projects in studios throughout Gothenburg, working as award winning production duo ‘Bloodshy & Avant’ (producing and writing hit songs for Kylie Minogue, Madonna and Britney Spears, including the Grammy winning pop classic ‘Toxic’) In 2007 they were joined by American songwriter Andrew Wyatt, and Miike Snow was born. Last year saw the band receive widespread popularity in the UK, touring the country, appearing on Jools Holland, and releasing both their debut album and radio smash "Animal", with Guardian refering to them as "coolly emotional pop suggesting a-ha meets Animal Collective". The band have added this date after recent sell out shows at both London's Tabernacle and The Scala, and it's their left-kilter electro pop really comes to life in the live arena, hitting hard like Soulwax, playful like Jamie Lidell, but also remaining introspective with an undercurrent of darkness similar to the frontrunners of early electronica. www.myspace.com/miikesnow

MUSIC GO MUSIC - A celebratory amalgamation of the otherworldly sci-fi glitz of 70s-era Bowie, the glory days of Donna Summer disco and the female-fronted indie-pop of Camera Obscura, only the grimmest of cynics would fail to lifted by MGM's creatively constructed Californian pop. Debut release Expressions, released on Secretly Canadian in the ‘States has been widely and rightly heralded by the critics (see below).
"Close your eyes and you can almost feel the silver spandex and smell the hairspray wafting from their mullets through a haze of dry ice. Open them and you will see singer Gala Bell, whose voice is as airy and pure as Agnetha and Anna-Frid cooing by a fjord, wearing an orange jumpsuit with rhinestones and genie pants that she bought off eBay” - The Guardian
"In an era when bedroom-acoustic intimacy and laptop-pop accessibility seem to rule independent music, it's refreshing to hear a band embracing overblown sentiment and matching it with massive choruses and sprawling production...This makes for songs that percolate with the urgency and precision of Bodies of Water's best, but with an added pop gloss often lacking from their music." - Pitchfork

WE HAVE BAND - 2010 is starting to feelmore and more like the year that the cities' clublands finally burst their shiny banks and completely explode full throttle uncontrollably into the mass public consciousness. Don't try and hide now, it feels a lot better if you don't fight it. It's no surprise therefore that self-styled "disco-rock trio" We Have Band have found themselves on many tip lists for the next 12 months. Full of Human League pop-ready smashes and Fischerspooner climaxes, there's also a cold wave edge here, with shards of disco funk reminscent of Le Tigre, Daft Punk, ESG and New York leftfield disco not disco pioneers. Fantastically filthy fun, WHB perfectly complete this bill of exiciting new electronica speaking with a language pop flourish. Have fun now.
