DD/MM/YYYY - an experimental indie band from Toronto, Canada. A band for whom waking up on someone's floor and getting in a van to drive them to the next city is probably way more the norm than not, this will be the band’s first European excursion. A fine new band in the Dischord / Our Band Could Be Your Life tradition of rock dedication, DD/MM/YYYY possess a scattered map of influences from punk, hardcore and prog to synthed-up pop. Where some can fail to channel wide arrays of diversity effectively, this lot succeed in making a hard-rocking and inventive blend of fast hook-filled prog-punk. Comparisons seem most clear to Q and Not U, Fugazi and Don Cabellero, but the band are certainly doing their best to push out in their own brave new direction. www.myspace.com/ddmmyyyy

ISLET - A band that in all possible ways evade description, primarily because the instrumental post-rock wig-out, Steve Reich drum-duo breakdown, rhythmic shouty noisy…..ness of this band is so far stretched, pulled and refracted that it would be nigh on impossible to figuratively stuff it into any generically labelled jar. And secondly because, well, they don’t want us to try. This is a band whose recent rise to the public psyche has been catalysed by their efforts to stay quietly out of the spotlight. (No myspace, website or available tracks online - only a fan site in thisisislet.com and a BBC session almost hiding online) Fortunately, their live show is anything but quiet. Theatrical, ambitious, engaging and hypnotic, make sure to catch this fantastic new band in what promises to be a fine double header of future rock to come. http://thisisislet.com/
MICE - Upcoming UK guitar-drums two-piece combining the tech-wig outs of Don Cabellero, Owls and US college rock indie titans with intricate melodic punk rock styling. A clear DIY aesthetic at their core, stop-starty rhythems shard up into hard rock chugs before giving way to swashes of lucsious melodic release.
