This is special Green Man festival tour affiliated show with Rockfeedback, featuring the wonderful talents of both Cate Le Bon and Lawrence Arabia.

CATE LE BON

Welsh chanteuse Cate Le Bon first released a Welsh language EP Edrych yn Llygaid Ceffyl Benthyg back in 2008, and her much-lauded debut full release (put out by long-time collaborator Gruff Rhys of the Super Furry Animals) My Oh My provided equal measures of hauntingly beautiful folk and unpredictable, experimental psychedelia. Calling to mind the dark storytelling ways of Nico, full of strong references to her surrounding clan of musical collaborators in Gorkys Zygotic Mynci or the aforementioned S.F.A., Cate also featured in Gruff Rhys and Boom Bip's Neon Neon project on bass guitar and vocals.

“Just when you think there is nothing to be added to that girl/guitar/splash of electronica formula, along comes someone you’ve never heard of to make you think again… Spellbinding.” Independent On Sunday – 4 stars

“Cate Le Bon is a sort of a freak folk version of St. Vincent, with the same air of unpredictability that makes Annie Clark’s music so hair-raising… On her marvellous debut album she comes across as alternately bookish and spooky… songs at once as old as the hills and utterly original" – Sunday Times

LAWRENCE ARABIA

Co-conspirator on this Green Man tour, Lawrence Arabia is the musical guise of New Zealand artist James Milne. Before settling into his new title, he's previously been involved groups as varied as The Brunettes and Okervill River, toured with Feist, and produced much of the music for excellent Kiwi indie film smash Eagle Vs. Shark. 2010 sees his debut release for Bella Union in the UK, entitled Chant Darling. Recorded over 18 months in a studio between Stockholm, London and Auckland, it's an album  full of honest, earnest personality and some fantastic songs to while away the days to.

"Chant Darling is a modern pop masterpiece... like a mutant hybrid of Jonathan Richman, The Beatles and The Beach Boys... these 10 songs provide a wonderful example of classic song-writing combining sugar hits of harmony, sweet melody and lush orchestration that will set you reeling as the witty and sometimes forlorn tales of indolence, longing and romantic misadventure hit home.” - Rough Trade Shops

"All the sunny charm, and breezy ephemerality, of a late-August afternoon. As most of the songs prove, especially ‘Apple Pie Bed’, Milne can spin out catchy melodies without breaking a sweat." - The Guardian

MARQUES TOLIVER

We first met Marques as the violinist to Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson. Sleeping in our office and touring the UK, at Great Escape we walked past him busking solo in the street to a captive audience (later he revealed the small fortune the people of Brighton bestowed upon him). A stunning musician, we were immediately won over by him in playing within a band (he now also plays with the likes of Mechanical Bride, Bat For Lashes and Holly Miranda) but seeing him both in the Brighton lanes and later at an impromptu appearance at our aftershow party after our Transgressive anniversary show at Union Chapel, it was evident we'd become acquainted with a remarkable talent. Now relocated to the UK, Marques is reminscent of Andrew Bird when he sings and plays violin, however there's a great deal more soul music, romance and fantasy involved here. This date follows opening slots of Bat For Lashes and The Antlers, and it surely won't be long before Marques is far better known.
