Technically supreme and joyfully playful, Chicago's Maps and Atlases make fresh and exciting progressive indie-pop songs embracing elements of math-rock, folk and plaid-drenched college indie sounds. Formed in the basements of Chicago playing parties with bands like Matt and Kim and Russian Circles, the band's desire to drive technical structures and techniques into new contexts has seen them become particularly well known for their use of duel guitar "tapping" (forcing the guitar worship community to sit up and listen), funneled into more traditional accessible melodies and hooks. Most impressive and compelling is their ability to remain very good-humoured and un-pretentious along the way, meaning their quite progressive and complex music comes across instantly likeable, with great songs to hang hats on thrown into the mix. Despite being together as a band for a few years now touring Europe and the States with like-minded souls such as Foals and Minus The Bear, the band will release their debut full length in September this year, signing to Fat Cat records in Europe. A summer tour with buzz-band upstarts Cults in tow will precede a much anticipated first Europe visit in nearly two years, with this the band's London headline show and album launch.

Maps & Atlases chosen tour partners are certaintly onto something, their genuinely unique blend of US indie-pop with a hint of glam awarded them their first headline tour back in June, they released their debut ep earlier this year on Big Scary Monsters and their off again later to support the mighty Tubelord. Fiction are a young quartet with the intricacies of early Foals, mixed in with a dose of Adam And The Ants, Orange Juice and noughties (yes I did just refer to a decade’s sound already) electronica. Exciting early days for this band and a great symbol of how to keep it interesting for a new bunch of men brandishing guitars, drums, electronics and more in this big bad world today. Playful yet serious, they verge between charismatic, joyful pop and experimental flourishes of excitement.
There will be some very special guests in support announced soon and Rockfeedback DJs spinning your favourite tunes between the bands and before.
The show takes place on Tuesday 12th October, and will be our first show at London's Cargo venue, 83 Rivington Street, EC2A 3AY. Doors will be at 7.30pm.
