“where there was promise of something interesting at the beginning, ‘the minute I saw it’ unfortunately ends up sounding like an opportunity wasted…”; release – 2010

They thought it couldn’t be done, but LA four piece Chief have managed to successfully inject a brooding rock track with that famous west coast sunshine. What would otherwise sound like a poor imitation of one of Coldplay’s heavier moments (it’s all relative) ends up sounding not too unlike fellow LA residents Local Natives.

Potentially dangerous ground you might think, but it works. Sadly a lack of ideas proves to be the song’s downfall, and it gets a little repetitive towards the end of its three and a half minutes. Where there was promise of something interesting at the beginning, ‘The Minute I Saw It’ unfortunately ends up sounding like an opportunity wasted.
