Concrete and Glass
01 Oct 2008
a two day festival of weird music (tv on the radio and lykke li aside, this is the kind of thing where people play saws and hammers as musical instruments - cool!) and art in east london, filmed by rockfeedback tv. can't you just feel the culture?
Date: 2nd and 3rd October 2008, from 7pm both days.
Ticket details: Day tickets £22.50 (£18.00 for students), two day tickets £35.00 (£28.00 for students), subject to booking fee - available HERE.
Why is this worthy of my time and money?: The idea of a music festival is a pretty fluid concept these days. You've got your big ones, your small ones, your boutique ones, your comedy ones, your ones with controversial hip-hop headliners and your venue-hopping urban extravaganzas to name but a few.
October's Concrete and Glass is the latest many-venued adventure to grace London, but promises to bring something a bit different to the table. Centred on Rough Trade East on Brick Lane, the 2 day Shoreditch event aims to showcase not only the best current music, but also the best contemporary art.
As with anything that's ever been cool, we'll be documenting the event with our cameras for a forthcoming episode of Rockfeedback TV on Channel 4. In case you're wondering, here's the line up in full:

The art side of things sounds just as interesting, with Flora Fairbairn Projects curating over 20 artist, performance and film projects in disused warehouses and empty shop spaces, with the following collaborators confirmed, amongst many others:
Measure / Kinetica / Reconstruction / A Foundation / Artwise / Riceboy / Artprojx / Iain Forsyth / Jane Pollard / Gerry Fox
Late gallery openings, emerging artist competitions, internationally acclaimed bands and cutting edge talent are all promised for what is shaping up to be an interesting couple of days in Shoreditch. The following venues have so far been confirmed for the festival, and we think it sounds pretty damn great:
Hoxton Bar & Grill / Rough Trade East / 93ft East / Cargo / The Griffin / Tea Building / Favella Chic / Catch / The Legion / The Strongroom / Café 1001 / The Macbeth / Zigfrid / The Old Blue Last / Electricity Showrooms / Plastic People / Whitechapel Gallery
