There are certain words which are often associated with tracks that break the 10 minute mark, ‘sprawling’, ‘epic’, ‘grandiose’ to name but a few. ‘Forever Dolphin Love’ is none of these things.
Instead, it’s something of a gentle meander through one of Connan Hosford’s dreams, taking in plenty of lovely lo-fi scenery along the way. A percussive bass line propels the song along, sounding like a more ambient Deerhunter, while muted guitars sing and sigh from a distance.
By the time the washed-out vocals appear halfway through, singing undecipherable lyrics about dolphins, or something, it doesn’t matter that you can’t work them out, you’re just happy to let the song’s current take you and sweep you along.
