Harriet Brown makes contemplative, soulful, genre defying R&B and was kind enough to answer some of our questions ahead of his show at Redon this October. Check out what he's got to say and get tickets now...
What three words best describe your music for someone who's never heard it?
Freaky Funky Sensual
What's the best gig you've ever been to?
Hard to say for all time, but as of the past couple years, I'll have to say Adeline (go check her out).
What was the last book you read that you'd recommend?
Pattern Recognition by William Gibson – not my favorite of his, but still good and was the last one I read.
What does music mean to you?
Music is an expression of the human soul. For me personally, I use it as healing, therapy, like a friend to turn to that will understand what I'm going through or help me work out what's going on inside of me.
Vinyl, CD or digital?
Tough question. I mean, CDs really do actually sound the best to me. Love vinyl, too, though. Digital is amazing for accessibility.
If you could be another person for one day, who would you be and why?
I'd be my significant other so I that I could know her thoughts and understand her and relate to and empathize with her even more once I'm back to myself.
Who is the best artist in the world?
It's either Prince or Sade.
What can we expect from your live show?
A backing band of machines, and one person doing a whole lot of moving and grooving and sweating while playing guitar and singing passionately.
