29 Mar 2017

Playing the east London festival will be Liars, Sophie, Jenny Hval and many, many more

Previous years have seen special performances from an internationally acclaimed range of artists including Young Fathers, The Fat White Family, Jens Lekman, Poliça, Camera Obscura, ESG, Perfume Genius, Loyle Carner, !!!, Songhoy Blues, Mykki Blanco, Elf Kid, Lightning Bolt, Anna Calvi, The Haxan Cloak, Perfume Genius, Micachu, Let’s Eat Grandma, Hinds, The Japanese House, and many more. VISIONS has progressively grown each year adding new venues, spaces and outdoor spots within London Fields, and has become a firm favourite for many in the local area and beyond.

For VISIONS 2017 the festival welcomes cult heroes Liars to top the bill, this will be one of their first UK shows since their 2014 released album ‘Mess’. Electronic producer SOPHIE also joins VISIONS for a rare London performance. We are excited to announce Norwegian producer and singer Jenny Hval, who landed in various 2016 album end of year lists including FACT magazine’s no.1 spot for her critically acclaimed album ‘Blood Bitch’, her Sacred Bone’s label mate Blanck Mass is back to perform for a second time at VISIONS following the recently released ‘World Eater’.

A handful of talented US acts also join the bill, including rapper ZEBRA KATZ, Brooklyn-based punk band The Men and quirky indie outfit Frankie Cosmos. We are also excited to have Latin American musician Helado Negro perform following the release of his fifth studio album ‘Private Energy’ last year. Some of the best talent from the South of London are set to perform at VISIONS this year, including the hotly tipped Shame, Rough Trade-signed newcomers Goat Girl and fast-rising MC Benny Mails. Last but not least, R&B meets folktronic duo IDER and Tel Aviv-based artist Noga Erez both join the bill. Many more acts are still to be announced in the coming weeks.

VISIONS also offers various non-music events which include firm favourites such as our Screen Print Class, Tattoo Flash Day, Record & Zine Fair and the Street Food & Craft Beer Market. We are excited to welcome back the massively successful Dog Show and welcome some new additions, including Punk Rock Karaoke and a VISIONS Cook-Off.

VISIONS artwork this year was a special collaboration with Australian graphic designer and art director, Leif Podhajsky. Known for his album covers with the likes of Foals, Tame Impala and Bonobo, Podhajsky’s unique psychedelic style is a perfect match for VISIONS’ own style and aesthetic.

Focusing on accessibility and highly alternative entertainment, the festival remains an affordably priced ticket at just £27.50, with a wealth of different acts to see and things to do in some of city’s best new venues and spaces - smack bang in the middle of a hazy London in the mid-summer.

VISIONS is brought to you by Rockfeedback and Bird On The Wire, in association with London in Stereo.
