"To make the translation from the images conjured up in the brain to the dirty laptop screen is never going to be a simple task, but Michael Baldwin has come along to knock this baby out of the park."

When this landed in my inbox my thoughts instantaneously went out to the director and what a nightmare sorting out the treatment for an Anna Calvi video must be. That girl really seems to know what she wants (probably why the album sounds so gorgeous). I digress - 'Blackout' is next single to be lifted from Caliv's eponymous, rather impressive debut, a record which is one of the most cinematic musical experiences of recent times. To make the translation from the images conjured up in the brain to the dirty laptop screen is never going to be a simple task, but Michael Baldwin has come along to knock this baby out of the park. His video feels like a dream interspersed with powerful yet shy images of Calvi, ultimately matching the songstress with his ability to create and combine beauty, intrigue and passion. The single will be available on 7" (RUG394) and via digital download (RUG394D) from 21st March 2011, all through Domino records.
