Here We Go Magic’s last album Pigeon left a few fans disappointed that they didn’t capitalise on their great debut and produce a classic, but early signs from their third album A Different Ship look more promising. After Thom Yorke dragged him to see the band play at Glastonbury (true story), Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich offered to produce the album, and the results look to have raised the standard considerably.

There are more than a few Talking Heads comparisons to be made on the evidence of ‘Make Up Your Mind’, with Luke Temple’s nonsensical rhymes and the jittery, crisp guitar lines being the main culprits, but this is no bad thing. The band are sounding tighter and more confident than ever, and with Godrich’s help they might just be about to live up to their potential.
