Ian Brown - 'All Ablaze'The thirteenth single from the ex-Stone Roses frontman sets the scene for his greatest hits collection out around now. An eerie melody frames Brown's unoriginal critique on organised religion: 'say that Jesus never died at crucifixion'...

Yawn, but the eastern guitars and Brown's northern lazy vocals come up trumps. This is typical northern monkey fodder but ends delightfully unexpectedly with trumpets. Thirteen - a portentously unlucky number for some, but Brown's finest single to date.
