18 Jun 2020
Every Thursday we’re sharing NEW MUSIC THURSDAY featuring recent discoveries, new acts we're currently listening to and our tips for the future. Now more than ever we feel it’s so important to mine the corners of the internet to find some of the wonderful creativity that abounds… Check out this week’s below:
If you haven't heard of TENCI yet, we urge you to go and have a listen. Her LP "My Heart is in Open Field" is surely one of our favourite for 2020 so far.
We recently came across TIGAPAW and we absolutely love her. TYGAPAW is a multi-disciplined musician based in Brooklyn. She’s the founder of Fake Accent, which started in 2014 as a monthly queer club night based in Brooklyn. Paper Magazine listed her as one of the “50 LGBTQ Artists you should prioritize” in 2018. She recently released "Ode to Black Trans Live" which you can listen to here.
Bristol band Home Counties have dropped their incredible debut single 'Redevelopment'. From Bristol, a city that has become a hub for great bands such as Idles, Scalping, Heavy Lungs and now Home Counties - we're keeping an eye out for their upcoming releases.
Porij are an alt-dance four piece drawing inspiration from artists such as MJ Cole, Pomo and KNOWER. Porij has a reputation for bringing high energy, dance fuelled shows. Their new single "150" is out now on Oat Gang Records.
MAL THE ODDITY
Mal the Oddity has been producing music for years now, young as he is. With musical roots in trumpet and guitar, Mal brings an ear and love for experimentation to contemporary flavors of hip hop/rap music. Born in Brooklyn, Mal brings a unique perspective to the rap game: He's a rebel–against convention, against oppression, against conformity. His self released single "Freaks and Wild Things" came out a few days ago - have a listen!
We told you about them a few weeks ago but couldn't resist sharing their 15min long single "People thought my windows were stars" with you (available on Untitled Recs). Deathcrash are certainly one of the most exciting new bands from London. "Simmering with the desolate ambience of a bleak landscape, post rock London quartet Deathcrash have perfected the art of captivating minimalism on new offering" - The Line of Best Fit.
Singer, rapper, producer and musician, Milan meticulously curates each and every aspect of the creative process, from the first chord struck on the guitar to the final master. Milan Ring has cemented herself as an irrevocable fixture in the Australian music scene and is making moves on the rest of the world. Listen to her last single "Are Your Friends Alright?" (Astral People Recordings).
Big fan of this Australian band discovered at BIG SOUND Festival last year. Sydney's trio Shady Nasty came back with their new EP - "Bad Posture" out on Royal Mountain Records.
