Hello October, what is going on?

Written By: Kylie O'Connell

October is the month we officially wave goodbye to the summer festival season and say hello to the final quarter of 2015. What’s in store? A lot. We’ve put together a playlist so you can prepare yourselves for the brilliant month ahead.

Everything kicks off tonight when Cristobal and The Sea play a free show at Birthdays in Dalston. With support from London’s Fake Laugh, it might just be the perfect pop start to the weekend.

Next week Toronto quartet Born Ruffians return to London in support of their fourth album ‘RUFF’. They play The 100 Club with support from Fossa. The following night (8th October), new Transgressive signings Blaenavon play a special intimate show at The Waiting Room. They release their new EP ‘Miss World’ on 30th October.

It’s double trouble on Thursday 15th October with when Boxed In play XOYO and Chastity Belt takeover The Victoria with their endearing pop punk. Chastity Belt sold out a while back, but you can still get your hands on some Boxed In tickets for a night of electronic bliss.

The following week things get a little darker when The Soft Moon hits up Electrowerkz with his atmospheric show. Support comes from Irish composer and producer Ellll. Then it’s a little down time before next week hits - deep breaths.

The endlessly charming Father John Misty in town for two consecutive sold out shows at O2 Shepherds Bush Empire. If you’re yet to experience his live shows, you will not be disappointed. The 28th also sees U.S. Girls return for a show at Corsica Studios in support of her brilliant new album ‘Half Free’ out now on 4AD. Speaking of talented ladies, the same night will play an intimate show at XOYO - tickets for this show are on sale Wednesday (7th October) at 9am.

2015 marks the 15th year of the wonderful Wichita Recordings and this month they’re going to be celebrating in style. On the 29th October, Waxahatchee will play a special Wichita anniversary show at Islington Assembly Hall with label mate, Theo Verney.

As we approach the end of the month, things heat up even more for the fourth edition of ILLUMINATIONS Festival. The first Illuminations 2015 show will be Three Trapped Tigers and Liturgy at The Dome. On the 31st, a special Illuminations Halloween show will take place for the UK premiere of Silent Hill Live at Islington Assembly Hall. You can see all of the Illuminations shows here.

For now, press play below. Tickets to all shows can be found here.
