Happyness pick some of their favourite tracks ahead of their show at September's edition of Popular Culture
Specialising in their own unique brand of 'lush-yet-breezy indie rock' Happyness are one of our favourite bands here at RFB. We're very excited to have them back to play Popular Culture in September at The Finsbury alongside Luxury Death and Sports Team. Ahead of the show, Benji from the band has selected some of their favourite songs for us to enjoy.
Hovvdy - Problem
These guys are friends of ours in Austin, Texas. They lent us a guitar amp when we were over at SXSW and we met their dog, Layla, who is a total babe.
Agua De Beber - Antonio Carlos Jobim
Which translates as 'Drinking Water' I believe...
The Mad Scene - Choose
Maybe my favourite opening line in a song ever.
Ed Harcourt - The Man That Time Forgot
Ed recorded everything on this album live in one day at Abbey Road, just him and a piano. He'd just finished recording it when he mixed our first EP & played it to us shortly afterwards - this is probably my favourite Ed Harcourt song.
Gavin Bryars - The Sinking of the Titanic
Released by Brian Eno's "Obscure Records" in 1975, paired with 'Jesus Blood Never Failed Me Yet'. And one of Tom Wait's favourite records - which kinda says it all.
Pierre Cavalli - Un soir chez Norris
Perhaps the most English sounding French sentence ever...?
Ciccone Youth - Addicted to Love
Recorded in a karaoke booth at Macy's department store.
