Alpines

Big things are expected from Londoners Alpines in 2011.  Having just signed to Polydor, the duo thrive off of dark imagery, their tracks building slowly with a trip-pop feel.  The perfect soundtrack to still being awake at the witching hour.   Download some tracks here, or stream one below.

 Vondelpark

Little is known about Vondelpark, but his sparse and ethereal tunes have left many aching to discover more. It’s 2 step , and many will attempt to draw comparisons to The xx, but from what we can hear, these tracks are far more sullen than sweet.

Celestial Bodies

Ferry Gouw of Semifinalists fame’s latest project sees him create tense, 80’s tinged electro.  The beauty to Celestial Bodies is that the tension is never entirely released, instead the songs pull you in to their world of big drums and polished synths without ever truly letting you go.

One more thing - Three New Ideas now has its own Soundcloud page.  Music from any band featured in the column will be up there until somebody asks for it not to be, so bookmark it.
