Human Bell - Human Bell (Thrill Jockey)

4/5

By: Sofie Jenkinson

Human Bell - Human BellThe sky cracks open above your head as the mottled grey clouds fold into each other and plump indigo tinged raindrops fall from the sky. As you tilt your head back and take in a lungful of warm moist air drop after drop of water starts to hit your face, running down your cheeks in a river of haste. The planet starts to whip itself up around you and you are alone, isolated in a moment of reflection, completely connected to everything around you.

This is the kind of dimension that Human Bell seem to have a thirst to provide to which ever set of ears come into contact with each note of their music. As the music floats above the hemisphere of ordinary life and creation the experimental nature of their talent stirs up every shade of grey between dusty backstreet American blues, post-rock and a circle of drum banging hippy musicians attempting to meditate.

The wide open space that the music creates gives the mind and the heart time to explore, weaving in and out of thought and vacancy, tracing its fingers over the cracks of humanity. As the throng of instrumental tones circle around you, lead by looping guitars the sound rocks back and forth between deep intensity and gentle introspection. Here, Human Bell create a platform from which you take your own version of them, with the music allowing a free and creative kind of impression to be made.
