Pluxus - Solid State (Kompakt)
4/5

You know when you're getting in to the club, the air is still cold and clean, the music is already on but, as yet, there's no one down on the dance floor? Pluxus' new opus Solid State matches this scenario so well that you're bound to appreciate the record just because of the memories and feelings it conjures up.
With a dark and trippy ambience, but at the same time remaining consistently uncomplicated and rewardingly straight forward, Solid State could kick off any party in any club's basement purely on its own. The blending of acoustic and electronic instruments combined with off-tempo beats and non harmonic sounds shows a group willing to be at the forefront for a new frontier in music, leading the way for those who will follow behind.
Put the record on and drift away while listening to 'Transient' and it's deep house vibe mixed with some beautiful nylon acoustic guitars, slide on to 'Perm' and beware to not light up a cigarette while you're sat a little too comfortably sat in your best sofa, but stand up at 'Bootstrap' to commence dancing with wild enthusiasm. You may change the record now, but just before taking a break you'll be momentarily thrown back in the mood by 'Corrose' and its hard, robotic beating (has anyone mentioned Kraftwerk?).
Pluxus have mixed the best of two worlds. When electronic and analogue meet in Solid State, they combine to form the best of what the genre has to offer - a brilliant step forward.
