Ambershades - 'Clap Clap Clap'

It's been said that the greatest songs are either about love or drugs. Seemingly, Ambershades have felt that merging the two concepts would result in the greatest material ever.

Well, that's the presumption at least. Certainly, South London's latest quintet are ambitious. Their debut-single 'Clap Clap Clap' is a rousing, overly melodic stomp from beginning to end, all 'cocaine bubbles' and other such rasping sensationalisms of strained vocalist Davey La; ignoring the amusingly Queen-alike 'Hello Hello' meanwhile, and better still is anthemic final track, 'Too Much' - a near over-produced gem of a pub-rocker, evocative of the retro sensibility that has helped seen them go down a treat on a current UK-jaunt with The Bluetones.

Early days, but the 'Shades aren't waiting for the tiny matter of 'evolution' to help them influence their starting-point - they want it all. And they want it now.
