American Head Charge - 'Just So You Know' (Mercury)
4/5

Major UK support-tours confirmed with big-name acts, say Slipknot or Rammstein? Yup - check. A sound that can safely fit into the borders of 'commercial, yet slightly angry rock' - check. And, finally, that band-name which is aggressive and moody: American Head Charge? Perfect.
Effectively, this does start like pretty much every other rock-record of the last two years: pounding bass, a similarly destructive guitar-riff, etc. yet 'Just So You Know' redeems itself in the 'All it was was something beautiful'-based chorus, and haunting synth that hovers in the background of the mix throughout.
A following remix from Clown #6 of the 'Knot - weighing in at an impressive 10 minutes and 47 seconds, complete with a more eerie, slowed-down take on AHC's A-side - completes an exciting early release from a US group that just may have something different to offer from the legions of distortion-yielders currently being churned out... About time, too.
